Lois found the gift of yoga as a remedy for a chronic back-ache. She found yoga's stretches to be exquisitely soothing, invigorating, and uplifting. In 2000 she began taking weekly classes and has since incorporated the principles of yoga into her daily life. She finds yoga to be an indispensable tool, managing many aspects of her all-around fitness. Her personal practice is the center of profound joy.
Lois was trained at the Windhorse Yoga studio in Denver, Colorado where she practiced yoga regularly from 2000 until the small studio closed in 2007. In 2005, she began an apprenticeship with her teacher, who is an instructor in the Iyengar tradition of Hatha Yoga with over twenty-five years of yoga experience. It has been of great interest, joy and gratitude for Lois to work with this teacher, Linda Skarrup, who specializes in trauma recovery. Lois began to teach beginners' and children's classes at the Windhorse studio. Since the Windhorse Yoga studio's closing, Lois has taught at a multi-use studio in Denver - Ancient Harmony Tai Chi. Now she has brought her knowledge of yoga to the holistic setting of Advanced Health Solutions. Using her training in Iyengar yoga as an invaluable resource, she offers general classes teaching the fundamentals of yoga. She uses props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters and straps to teach people how to get into yoga poses, emphasizing correct alignment and use of the body. She incorporates short meditations into every class, and teaches mindfulness of breath and body.
Along with teaching yoga and otherwise making a living, Lois is earning a Master's degree in Humanities at the University of Colorado at Denver.
She looks forward to seeing you at one of her classes!
